The Tale of Tilly and the Midnight Train – Let’s Read
Once in a small village near the beautiful forest there was a young girl named Tilly.
Tilly loved bedtime stories, and her grandmother, Nana Rose, always told her wonderful tales of magic, adventure, and faraway lands.
One night, after Tilly brushed her teeth and put on her pajamas, Nana Rose came to her room with a strange smile.
“Tonight, I have a special story for you, Tilly. This one is about a train that runs only at midnight.”
Tilly’s eyes grew wide. “A midnight train? Where does it go?”
Nana Rose leaned in close and whispered, “To a magical world where dreams come to life. But there’s a secret: only those who truly believe can see it.”
Curious and excited, Tilly closed her eyes and tried to imagine the train. “I wish I could see it,” she whispered to herself.
That night, just as the clock struck midnight, Tilly heard a faint sound outside her window—a soft chug, chug, chug and a gentle whistle, choo-choo!
She jumped out of bed and peeked outside. There, in the glow of the moonlight, stood a beautiful silver train with sparkling carriages.
On the front of the train was a sign that read, The Midnight Express.

Without thinking twice, Tilly slipped into her slippers and dashed outside.
The train’s door opened with a quiet hiss, and she climbed aboard.
Inside the train, everything glittered like starlight. The seats were covered in soft, silvery fabric, and twinkling lights hung from the ceiling like little stars.
Tilly found a seat by the window, and just as she sat down, the train started moving.
As the train chugged along, Tilly looked out and saw fields of flowers that glowed in the dark, rivers that sparkled, and trees that shimmered like silver.
She felt as if she was traveling through a world made of dreams.
After a while, the train stopped, and a tiny creature hopped on board. It was a little rabbit with a golden pocket watch.
He wore a tiny hat and looked very important.
“Welcome, Tilly,” said the rabbit in a friendly voice. “I’m the conductor of the Midnight Express. Tonight, we’re visiting the Land of Dreams!”
Tilly’s face lit up. “Really? What will I see there?”
The rabbit smiled. “You’ll see everything you’ve ever dreamed of.”
The train puffed on, and soon it arrived at the Land of Dreams.
Tilly stepped out and saw a land filled with colourful rainbows, tall candy trees, and rivers of sparkling water.
There were butterflies with wings that glowed like tiny lanterns and friendly animals that waved as Tilly passed by.
As she walked around, Tilly saw something truly wonderful.
Her own dreams—the ones she’d had while sleeping—were floating above her, like little puffs of cloud.
There was the dream of her flying, the dream of playing with her friends in a meadow, and even the dream of swimming in a sea filled with stars.
The rabbit conductor came up beside her. “All dreams live here, Tilly. And as long as you believe in magic, you’ll always be able to visit.”
Tilly smiled, feeling happy and peaceful.
Quote of the Day
Magic is real for those who believe, and dreams are the doorways that lead us there.
She waved goodbye to the Land of Dreams as she boarded the train to return home. She knew she’d never forget this magical place.
When the train brought her back to her village, Tilly climbed into bed, feeling as if she had just returned from the most wonderful adventure.
The next morning, she told Nana Rose all about it, but Nana just smiled and said, “Ah, Tilly, dreams can be magical indeed.
If you ever hear the Midnight Train again, remember: you’ll always be welcome on board.”
And from that night on, whenever Tilly closed her eyes, she listened closely, hoping to hear the soft chug, chug, chug of the Midnight Train, ready to take her back to the Land of Dreams.
