The Stag & His Reflection – Let’s Read
One bright morning, a proud stag wandered into a clear, quiet lake. As he leaned down to take a drink, he saw his reflection in the water.
“Wow,” he thought, staring at his antlers. “These antlers are magnificent! They’re so big and branching—truly fit for a king like me.”
But as his gaze shifted, he noticed his legs. He frowned. “Ugh,” he sighed, “these thin, spindly legs look so weak and ugly. They don’t suit someone as majestic as me.”
Just then, he heard a rustling in the bushes. He looked up and saw a lion prowling toward him!
Panicked, the stag turned and ran as fast as he could.
His legs, though thin, were quick and strong, helping him put distance between himself and the lion.
He dashed through the open fields with ease, but when he reached the woods, trouble began.

His beautiful antlers, the ones he admired so much, got tangled in the low-hanging branches.
He struggled and tugged, but the lion was getting closer.
“Oh no!” the stag cried. “My antlers, which I loved, are now my downfall! And my legs, which I hated, are what saved me!”
With one final tug, he managed to break free just in time to escape. Shaking with relief, he realized something important.
“I was so wrong to judge myself unfairly,” he said. “Everything has its purpose, and I should be grateful for what I have.”
From that day on, the stag never looked down on his legs again. Instead, he appreciated every part of himself for its unique value.
