The Tale of Peter Rabbit – Let’s Read

Once upon a time, there were four rabbits, they lived with their mother under a huge tree. Their mother was called Mrs. Rabbit. These rabbits have beautiful names Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter.

One sunny morning, Mrs. Rabbit gathered her children and said, “Now, my dears, you may go outside and play, but be careful.

The Tale Of Peter Rabbit

And remember, avoid going into Mr. McGregor’s Garden it’s not a safe place for little rabbits.”

Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail were very well-behaved. They nodded, said, “Yes, Mother,” and hopped down the lane to pick blackberries.

But Peter was always curious and sometimes a bit mischievous, had other ideas. As soon as his mother was out of sight, he scampered forward to Mr. McGregor’s Garden, squeezing under the garden gate.

Once inside, Peter’s eyes widened with delight. Rows of fresh, green vegetables stretched out before him. “What a feast!” he thought.

Without a second thought, Peter started munching on some crunchy lettuce, then moved on to a row of carrots, which were especially sweet. He tried radishes next and even nibbled on a few peas.

But just as Peter was about to try the beans, he heard a loud, grumpy voice. “Thief! Stop right there!” Startled, Peter looked up to see Mr.

McGregor, the farmer, running toward him with a rake. Peter’s heart raced, and he darted down the nearest row, weaving between the plants as fast as his little legs could carry him.

Behind The Cabbage

Mr. McGregor was quick, and Peter had to think fast. He spotted a patch of cabbages and ducked behind one, hoping Mr. McGregor would pass by.

But Mr. McGregor saw the tip of Peter’s ear sticking out and headed straight for him. Peter bolted again, but in his hurry, he got caught in a garden net.

Peter struggled, wiggling this way and that, until he finally managed to slip free, though he had to leave his little blue jacket behind.

Breathless and scared, Peter kept running, zig-zagging through the garden. He squeezed under some bushes, crawled through a row of flowers, and even hid in a watering can to catch his breath.

But everywhere he went, Mr. McGregor seemed to follow, getting closer each time.

Peter Running Fast

At last, Peter spotted the garden gate in the distance. Summoning all his strength, he dashed toward it, squeezing under just as Mr. McGregor reached out to grab him.

Peter didn’t stop running until he reached the safety of his burrow. Exhausted, he flopped down on the floor, panting.

When Mrs. Rabbit saw him, she shook her head. “Oh, Peter! I warned you not to go there,” she said, hugging him close.

She put him to bed, brought him a warm cup of chamomile tea, and tucked him in with a comforting pat on the head.

Quote of the Day

Curiosity can lead to great adventures, but listening to those who care for you keeps those adventures safe.

While Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cotton-tail enjoyed the blackberries they had gathered, Peter rested in bed, feeling a little sorry for not listening.

And from that day on, Peter always remembered his mother’s advise about that garden.
