The Lions and the Lamb – A Bedtime Story – Let’s Read

Once upon a time, deep in a green jungle filled with tall trees, chirping birds, and sparkling rivers, there lived two powerful lions. They were brothers, strong and proud, and their golden manes shone brightly in the sunlight.

All the animals of the forest respected them. The deer kept their distance, the monkeys stopped chattering whenever the lions roared, and even the mighty elephants walked carefully when passing by.

But despite being brothers, the lions argued almost every day.

“I am the king of this jungle!” the older lion roared.
“No, I am braver and wiser, so I should be king!” replied the younger lion.

Their loud fights echoed through the trees. Birds flew away in fright, rabbits hid in their burrows, and even the flowing river seemed to grow quiet.

One warm afternoon, when the sun was high and the lions were once again quarrelling under a banyan tree, a gentle sound of tiny hooves was heard. It was a small white lamb, lost and looking for fresh grass to eat.

The Lamb Talking With Lions

The lamb stopped, looked up at the mighty lions, and asked in a calm voice, “Why do you fight so much, noble lions? Don’t you see the jungle is already yours? The trees give you shade, the rivers give you water, and the animals respect you. Why waste your strength in anger?”

The lions laughed.

“You are so small and weak,” said the older lion. “What can you teach us about strength?”

The lamb lowered its head but replied with courage, “Strength without peace only brings fear. But strength with kindness brings respect and love. If you fight each other, one may win, but both of you will lose the happiness of the jungle.”

The lions grew quiet. For the first time, they looked around. They saw the frightened animals hiding, the empty fields where no one played, and the silence that had replaced laughter in the jungle.

The younger lion sighed, “Brother, perhaps the little one is right. What good is power if everyone is afraid of us?”
The older lion nodded slowly, “Yes… let us be kings not of fear, but of peace.”

Happy Moment For Lamb

From that day forward, the two lions stopped fighting.

They protected the forest together, sharing food, shade, and strength. Soon, the birds returned to sing, the deer ran freely in the meadows, and the monkeys laughed and swung from branch to branch.

The lamb, though small, had brought great wisdom to the mighty lions.

And every night, as the stars twinkled above, the lions lay side by side, remembering the gentle words of the little lamb.

Moral of the Story

True strength lies not in fighting for power, but in living with kindness, unity, and peace.
