Using cunning tricks, Puss convinces a king that Tom is a wealthy noble, the “Marquis of Carabas.

Along the way, he outsmarts peasants, charms royalty, and even defeats a powerful ogre to secure a grand castle and rich lands for Tom.

Through Puss’s quick thinking and loyalty, Tom wins the hand of the princess and lives happily ever after, showing that with a little ingenuity, even the humblest beginnings can lead to greatness.

Puss in Boots – Let’s Read

Once upon a time in a small village, a miller left his three sons his only possessions: the mill, a donkey, and a cat.

The eldest son chooses the mill, the middle son had chosen the donkey, and the youngest son, Tom, was left with just a cat.

Feeling disappointed and hopeless, Tom thought he had no future. But the cat he inherited was not ordinary; he was clever, bold, and could speak like a human.

The cat, who quickly introduced himself as “Puss,” reassured Tom, saying, “Master, just give me a pair of fine boots and a sack.

I promise you will not regret it.” Unsure but curious, Tom bought him the boots and watched as the cat transformed into a dashing, confident figure in his new footwear.

With the sack slung over his shoulder, Puss set out into the forest, ready to turn his master’s fate around.

The Plan Begins

Puss Giving A Rabbit To The King

Puss cleverly filled his sack with grain and waited patiently in the woods, setting it as a trap for small animals. Soon, a plump rabbit hopped in to eat the grain.

Puss swiftly captured it, tied it up, and headed to the royal palace. He presented the rabbit as a gift to the king, introducing himself with a deep bow.

“Your Majesty,” he said, “this is a gift from my master, the noble Marquis of Carabas.” The king, who was flattered by the gift, graciously accepted and told Puss he was always welcome.

Over the next few weeks, Puss continued to bring game from the forest to the king, each time attributing it to the mysterious Marquis of Carabas.

This greatly impressed the king, and soon the name of the Marquis became well-known in the court.

A Royal Encounter

One day, Puss learned that the king would be traveling down by the river with his beautiful daughter, the princess. Puss quickly went to his master and instructed, “Tom, go and bathe in the river.

Leave the rest to me.” Although he was puzzled, Tom trusted Puss and followed his advice.

As Tom splashed in the river, Puss hid his master’s old, ragged clothes and waited for the royal carriage to approach.

When it drew near, he ran toward it, waving his arms in distress and shouting, “Help! Help! My master, the Marquis of Carabas, has been robbed and thrown into the river!”

The king, recognizing the name, immediately ordered his guards to rescue Tom from the water. When they pulled him out, Puss explained that thieves had taken his master’s clothing.

The king, sympathetic and intrigued by this “Marquis,” offered Tom fine clothing from his own carriage, dressing him in a splendid outfit fit for royalty.

The king then invited the supposed Marquis of Carabas to join them on their journey, and Tom, now looking every bit a nobleman, climbed into the carriage beside the princess.

She found herself quite charmed by the handsome young man.

Creating a Kingdom

As the royal procession continued, Puss dashed ahead, reaching the fields and farms nearby.

He approached the peasants working there and told them, “If anyone asks who owns these lands, you must say they belong to the Marquis of Carabas.

Otherwise, you’ll be in serious trouble.” Confused but afraid, the peasants agreed.

Intelligent Puss Near The Castle

When the king’s carriage passed, he marveled at the vast fields and fertile lands. “Who owns these beautiful lands?” he asked a farmer.

“They belong to the Marquis of Carabas,” the farmer replied, just as Puss had instructed. The king was deeply impressed, thinking that Tom’s riches were beyond measure.

The Castle and the Ogre

Finally, Puss reached a grand castle, which belonged to a powerful ogre who ruled over all the lands. Puss knocked on the door, and the ogre, intrigued by the well-dressed cat, invited him in.

The cat, with a cunning smile, flattered the ogre and mentioned he had heard of his amazing ability to transform into different creatures.

“Is it true you can turn into a lion?” Puss asked, pretending to be amazed.

“Of course!” boomed the ogre. In a flash, he transformed into a fierce lion, roaring loudly, which sent Puss scrambling under a chair in pretend fright.

Impressed, Puss then challenged, “That is indeed remarkable! But I wonder—could such a great ogre transform into something small, like a mouse?”

Feeling overconfident, the ogre scoffed and said, “That’s easy!” He quickly turned into a tiny mouse, running across the floor.

In that instant, Puss pounced and devoured the ogre in one bite. The castle and its riches now belonged to the “Marquis of Carabas.”

Quote of the Day

Sometimes, the smallest companions carry the grandest dreams, and with a dash of cleverness, even a humble heart can wear a crown. Puss in Boots

A Happy Ending

When the king’s carriage arrived, Puss greeted them at the castle gates, proudly presenting it as the home of the Marquis.

The king was overwhelmed by the beauty and grandeur of the castle and was convinced that the Marquis of Carabas was the wealthiest nobleman in the land.

He happily offered his daughter’s hand in marriage to Tom.

Tom and the princess were married, and he was officially granted the title of Marquis of Carabas. Puss, now a beloved member of the royal household, lived in comfort for the rest of his days.

He enjoyed a life of luxury and was celebrated as a hero for his wit and loyalty.

And so, Tom, the miller’s youngest son, found happiness, wealth, and love, all thanks to his clever, boot-wearing cat. Together, they lived happily ever after.
