He tried to jump out but found it too high. After several unsuccessful attempts, the fox sat down in despair.
Just then, a thirsty goat happened to pass by and looked into the well. Seeing the fox at the bottom, the goat asked, “What are you doing down there, Mr. Fox?”

The sly fox, seeing an opportunity, replied, “Oh, I’m enjoying this cool, fresh water. It’s the best I’ve ever tasted! Come on down and join me; there’s plenty for both of us.”
Without a second thought, the thirsty goat jumped into the well and drank to his heart’s content.
But soon, the goat realized he was stuck too.
He looked at the fox and asked, “How will we get out now?”
The fox smiled cunningly and said, “Don’t worry.
Stand on your hind legs and press your front hooves against the wall. I’ll climb up using your back and horns. Once I’m out, I’ll help pull you up.”
Trusting the fox, the goat did as he was told. The fox climbed up and leaped out of the well.
Quote of the Day
Trust is precious; be careful who you give it to, for not all who lend a hand truly intend to help.
But instead of helping the goat, he looked down and said, “You should have thought before jumping in! Next time, think carefully before acting.”
With that, the fox trotted off, leaving the poor goat stuck in the well.
Moral of the Story
Think before you act and be cautious of who you trust. Not everyone has good intentions.
