The Rich Man and the Poor Man – Let’s Read

Once upon a time in a small village, there lived two men named Ramesh and Suresh.

Ramesh was very wealthy and lived in a grand mansion filled with luxuries. He was known for his wealth but not for his kindness, as he rarely helped others and was often boastful.

The Rich Man And Traveler

Suresh, on the other hand, was a poor man who lived a humble life in a small, simple hut.

Although he had little, Suresh was happy and well-liked by everyone in the village for his kindness and generosity.

One cold winter night, a traveller came to the village seeking shelter. He was tired, hungry, and shivering in the cold.

He first knocked on Ramesh’s door, hoping to find warmth and some food.

When Ramesh saw the traveller, he frowned and said, “I have no time for beggars! Go away and find somewhere else to stay.”

With a heavy heart, the traveller turned away and walked to Suresh’s small hut.

Despite having little himself, Suresh welcomed the traveller with open arms.

The Traveler Gave The Gold Coins

He offered him a warm blanket, shared the little food he had, and let him stay for the night.

The traveller was deeply touched by Suresh’s kindness and thanked him wholeheartedly the next morning before continuing his journey.

Days passed, and news spread that the traveller was, in fact, a king traveling in disguise to learn about the kindness of his people.

Quote of the Day

True wealth is found not in what we possess, but in the kindness we share.

Hearing about Suresh’s generosity, the king was deeply moved and rewarded him with a bag of gold coins, saying, “You may be poor in wealth, but you are rich in kindness and compassion.

“True wealth lies in the heart.”

As for Ramesh, he was left feeling empty, realizing that his wealth alone could not bring him respect or happiness.

He learned a valuable lesson about kindness that day and began changing his ways.

Moral of the Story

True wealth is not measured by money or possessions, but by kindness, compassion, and the willingness to help others.
