The Six Swans – Let’s Read

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess. She had 6 older brothers, who loved her tenderly.

Thus, both boys and girls frolicked in the forests, near the water and generally enjoyed themselves most of the time.

On the next day her rival, a jealous sorceress having heard about the magnificent beauty of the two girls came along.

And she wished to destroy their happiness, so she arrived at the kingdom in the form of another person.

The brothers and Elara decided to take a break in the neighbourhood of the lake; when they were asleep the sorceress began her incantation.

At once the six brothers transformed into six beautiful swans that could not speak or become humans again.

It is at sundown they would regain their human form but were transformed back into swans when the sun rises.

Elara was heartbroken. She begged the sorceress to undo the curse, but the sorceress only gave her a riddle: If you wish your brothers to be saved you must spin out of light and air before the third cry of the moon is heard.

Then they will remain swans for the rest of their lives if fails.

Elara realized that she had to at least attempt to do so, finding herself in the Enchanted Forest, home to various magical beings and creatures.

She wanted to get some assistance there. One day she stumbled on a great old tree, which began telling her how to make the net in terms of weaving it.

She had to get doses of ultraviolet radiation, breathe from morning, and the first star at dusk.

And every day she spun the net and tied the light and air as close as she could in togetherness.

At night, when her brothers were humans, they did not leave her side, instead they encouraged her all the time.

They could not assist her fight her problems as she wove but love and support kept her going.

The nearer the full moon, the lovelier and more nearly complete the net that she spread about Elara became.

At the night of the full Moon, when the last totem has been seized, she took the net to the lake where her brothers swans were.

With a hopeful heart she threw the net over them, and in quite unadorned language, said what she felt.

Quote of the Day

True courage shines brightest when woven with love; Elara’s heart proved that even the strongest curse can be undone by family.

In the snap of a finger the curse was over, and both of her brothers became human again for eternity.

All seven children came back home filled with joy and more attached to each other. And the sorceress?

She never returned because Elara’s love and bravery for that matter were far greater than the magic she posses.

As you are well aware, Elara and her brothers were subsequently happy, and their love’s testament was shared for many years.
