What’s For Dinner? – Let’s Read

It was a lazy Sunday afternoon, and little Riya was sprawled on the couch. She sniffed the air and called out, “Mom, what’s for dinner? I’m starving!”

Her mom, busy in the kitchen, replied, “It’s a surprise, Riya. Be patient.”

A Mother With Her Daughters Eating Dinner

Riya groaned. “I hope it’s pizza or maybe those cheesy pasta rolls!”

A few minutes later, Riya’s dad walked in. “What’s for dinner, dear?” he asked his wife.

“Wait and see!” Mom said with a mysterious smile.

Now Riya was more curious than ever. She peeked into the kitchen and saw her mom cutting some vegetables. Vegetables? Oh no, it’s not pizza!

Time ticked by, and soon, the delicious smell of spices filled the house. Riya couldn’t wait any longer. “Mom, pleeease tell me what’s for dinner!” she whined.

Mom laughed. “Alright, fine. It’s vegetable curry with fresh chapatis.”

Riya’s face fell. “Vegetable curry? That’s so boring!”

Family Dinner

Just then, their neighbor, Uncle Ravi, knocked on the door. “Hello! Sorry to disturb you, but I was wondering if you had any extra food.

My stove broke down, and I couldn’t cook today.”

Mom welcomed him in with a warm smile. “Of course! Stay for dinner, Uncle Ravi.”

Uncle Ravi sat down with them, and Mom served the curry and chapatis. He took one bite and exclaimed, “This is delicious! Thank you so much.”

Riya noticed how happy Uncle Ravi looked as he ate. She felt a little guilty about complaining earlier.

Quote of the Day

A simple meal becomes a feast when shared with gratitude and kindness.

She took a bite of her food and realized it wasn’t boring at all. It was flavorful and comforting.

After dinner, Riya said, “Mom, I think vegetable curry is actually pretty good. And Uncle Ravi looked so happy. I’m glad we could help him.”

Her mom smiled. “I’m glad you see it that way, Riya. It’s not just about what’s on your plate but how you appreciate and share it.”

Moral of the Story

Gratitude makes everything better. Appreciate what you have and find joy in sharing it with others.
