Part 2: “Thistle’s Game: The Halloween Pact” – Let’s Read
One year later, Thistle returns… but he’s brought new rules this time.
It had been exactly one year since that cursed Halloween night—since Sam, Olivia, Leo, and Mira escaped the haunted mansion filled with riddles, traps, and whispers in the dark.
After that night, the kids tried to go back to normal—or at least pretend to. They never spoke of Thistle again.
But he remembered them.
The Pact Returns
On Halloween morning, each of them received an envelope. There was no stamp, no address, just their names written in dripping black ink.
Inside was a crumbling piece of paper:
“One year gone. One year paid.
A pact was made, but never obeyed.
Return tonight, or be forgotten in shadow.” – Thistle.
None of them recalled making a pact. But all of them knew one thing:
Thistle was back.
Back to the House
At 7:13 p.m., they met at the edge of the woods, where the overgrown path led to the Deadsley House. But the house… it was different now.
It looked half-alive — windows blinking open and shut, vines slithering like snakes, and the front door breathing in slow, groaning sighs.
As they stepped inside, the air turned heavy. The walls were covered in portraits of themselves, but each had hollow, black eyes and crooked grins.
The door slammed shut.
The New Game Begins
Suddenly, a pale, sharp-fingered hand dropped four dusty cards from the dark above. Each floated down slowly, landing in front of them:
- Sam picked the Dagger
- Olivia chose the Mirror
- Leo took the Bell
- Mira was left with the Web
Thistle emerged from the top of the grand staircase — taller than before, mouth stretching past his cheeks, dressed in an old circus ringleader coat that twitched on its own.
“New rules, little oath-breakers,” he hissed.
“No more teamwork. No more help. One card. One room. One hour.”
“Beat the challenge… or the house keeps you.”
He smiled. But his teeth weren’t teeth — they were tiny keys.
Then the floor split beneath them.
The Rooms of Terror

Sam – The Kitchen of Blades
He landed on cold, blood-stained tiles. Dozens of knives hovered mid-air, spinning slowly. A chalkboard read:
“Only one blade opens the door. Choose wrong, and you’ll bleed before you leave.“
One knife on the wall had his name carved into it. When he reached for it, the others twitched… watching.
Olivia – The Mirror Room
She stood inside a circular room with dozens of tall mirrors, but none showed her real reflection.
In one mirror, she was crying blood.
In another, she was… laughing at herself.
And in the largest mirror, Thistle stood behind her despite being alone.
A note on the floor read:
“Find the mirror that shows your true fear. Smash it — or it’ll break you instead.“
Her heart pounded as the mirrors started to whisper.
Leo – The Clock Room
Leo stumbled into a room with no doors and a giant grandfather clock — but it had no hands.
Every time he moved, a loud “DONG” echoed.
A child-sized mannequin in the centre of the room turned its head with every sound.
A scroll was nailed to the wall:
“Find time before time finds you.
Silence the bell, or join its toll.“
Suddenly, his watch began ticking… backwards.
Mira – The Web Room
Mira was caught in a maze of giant cobwebs, sticky and sour air.
A massive cocoon pulsing like a heartbeat is at the centre of the room.
Tiny spiders watched from every corner.
One whispered:
“She’s waiting for you inside.”
Mira’s card began glowing — and then burned away in her hand.
She had no way back. Only forward.
Thistle’s Eyes
Thistle sat in a dark room with floating candles and dozens of key-shaped teeth chattering in bowls.
He watched them through mirrors, whispers, and the blinking portraits on the walls.
“Let’s see who keeps the pact… and who becomes a portrait.”
He licked his lips.
The games had just begun.
To Be Continued…
- Will Sam choose the right blade?
- Can Olivia face her fear?
- Will Leo silence the bell?
- And what is Mira walking toward?
And what is this Halloween Pact they never remember making?
