Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail, being obedient little bunnies, nodded at their mother’s warning and scampered off down the lane to pick blackberries.

But Peter, with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, had other ideas. He wanted an adventure.

As soon as his mother was out of sight, Peter ignored her warning and hopped swiftly towards Mr. McGregor’s Garden.

He squeezed under the wooden garden gate, his heart pounding with excitement.

Once inside, Peter’s eyes sparkled at the sight before him—rows and rows of delicious vegetables! “What a feast!” he thought.

Peter wasted no time. He munched on the crispiest lettuce, nibbled on the juiciest carrots, and savored the taste of freshly plucked radishes.

Then, he came across some sweet peas and gobbled them up without a second thought.

Caught in the Act

Just as Peter reached for a ripe tomato, a loud, gruff voice thundered through the air: “Thief! Stop right there!”

Peter froze. He turned his head slowly and saw Mr. McGregor—a tall, grumpy old farmer—charging toward him with a rake in hand.

Panic surged through Peter. His little heart pounded as he darted down a row of cabbages, his paws kicking up dirt as he ran.

Mr. McGregor was fast, but Peter was small and quick.

Desperate to escape, Peter dived behind a giant pumpkin, hoping to stay hidden. But his ears stuck out just a little too much!

Mr. McGregor spotted them immediately and lunged toward him.

He tried hiding under a bush, but Mr. McGregor’s sharp eyes spotted him immediately.

He dashed towards a row of flower pots, but the farmer’s rake came swinging just inches from his tail!

Then, Peter spotted the garden gate. It was his only way out. Summoning every ounce of energy, he sprinted towards it, his little feet barely touching the ground.

Mr. McGregor lunged forward one last time, but Peter squeezed under the gate just in time!

He didn’t stop running until he reached the safety of his burrow. Once inside, he collapsed onto the floor, exhausted but relieved.

A Lesson Learned

When Mrs. Rabbit saw her son trembling and out of breath, she knew exactly what had happened. She sighed and shook her head.

“Oh, Peter! I warned you not to go there,” she said, scooping him up into her arms.

She wrapped him in a warm hug, then tucked him into bed with a soft blanket. “You need some rest, my dear. Here, drink some chamomile tea to calm yourself.” She gently stroked his head until he drifted off to sleep.

Meanwhile, Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail enjoyed the blackberries they had picked, chatting happily about their little adventure.

They had listened to their mother and stayed safe.
